No matter how perfectly styled your home is, that will mean nothing if the lighting isn’t right. Yes. I said it.
Some of you may already know where I’m going with this but if you don’t, get ready to be amazed. Have you made the switch to LED lighting? If so, are you familiar with the wattage and what you’re using in each room?
I like to think of it like paint finishes. There’s flat, satin, eggshell, etc. and when it comes to lighting, you have 2700K, 3000K, 5000K. It’s JUST as important to take these into consideration as it is when choosing paint finishes.
In our home, we use 2700K in both the living room and the bedrooms. This is because it gives off a very warm and traditional light. We enjoy relaxing in these areas so soft lighting is important.
You can find 3000K in our bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor light fixtures. It’s a little brighter but not too harsh (see photo). As I mentioned above, 5000K is also an option but because this gives off almost a blue hue, we don’t use it in our house and I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s also important to note that excessive wattage can also produce additional heat which can be both hazardous and $.
All in all, I recommend 2700W – 3000W. You’ve been waiting for your new furniture for almost a year! Make sure your room looks its best.
If you haven’t made the switch (no pun intended), I highly recommend it and if you do, I’d love to hear your feedback.
Cheers,
Liz
